Flaming Rooster Rasta Rib Rub

For 8 people ()

  • 1 tablespoon(s) Cayenne Pepper
  • 0.5 cup(s) Paprika
  • 2.5 tablespoon(s) Ground Black Pepper
  • 2 tablespoon(s) Salt
  • 1 tablespoon(s) Mustard Powder
  • 1.5 tablespoon(s) Chili Powder
  • 1.5 tablespoon(s) Garlic Powder
  • 1 tablespoon(s) Onion Powder
  • 1 cup(s) Brown Sugar

1.  Mix all of the ingredients in a large bowl until it is completely blended.

2.  Remove the ribs from the plastic and rinse with water.  Pat the ribs dry

3.   With a knife, remove the membrane from the ribs.  The membrane is on the bone side of the ribs.  Once started, you should be able to peal off the membrane and it will look like a thin piece of plastic.

4.  Get a couple of large pieces of cellophane laid out on the counter.  Apply mustard to on the ribs on all sides and rub in with your hands.  There should be a layer of mustard all the way around the ribs.  The mustard is only used as an adhesive for the rub - there will be no flavor of mustard in the ribs.

5.  Generously apply the rub with your hands all over the ribs evenly - the thicker you have the rub on the better the flavor and crust on the ribs.

6.  Wrap the ribs in the cellophane and store in the refrigerator for 12+ hours.

This recipe will be enough for 4 racks of ribs.

Followed this recipe and instructions from YouTube with my BGE this Fourth of July weekend! Ribs were unbelievable !!!! Mine were a little less moist/tender cuz I couldn't get the heat lower on my BGE. So only smoked for 4.5 hours. Still bomb a** rubs tho
