Flaming Rooster Bold Brisket Rub

For 1 batch(es) ()

  • 1 tablespoon(s) Chili Powder
  • 3 tablespoon(s) Salt
  • 2 tablespoon(s) Garlic Powder
  • 2 tablespoon(s) Onion Powder
  • 1 tablespoon(s) Black Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon(s) Dried Parsley
  • 4 tablespoon(s) Cayenne Pepper
  • 2 tablespoon(s) Minced Garlic (dried)
  • 2 tablespoon(s) Paprika

1.  Mix all of the ingredients in a large bowl until it is completely blended.

2.  Remove the brisket from the plastic and rinse with water.  Pat the brisket dry.

3.  Get a couple of large pieces of cellophane laid out on the counter.  Apply mustard to on the brisket on all sides and rub in with your hands.  There should be a layer of mustard all the way around the brisket.  The mustard is only used as an adhesive for the rub - there will be no flavor of mustard in the brisket.

4.  Generously apply the rub with your hands all over the brisket evenly - the thicker you have the rub on the better the flavor and crust on the brisket.

5.  Wrap the brisket in the cellophane and store in the refrigerator for 12+ hours.

The recipe should be enough rub for a 12-15 pound brisket.  Over 15 pounds, double up the ingredients as needed.

I cut this recipe in half for a 5lb brisket. Very good...especially if you like your brisket with a little kick.
