Grilled steak fries with lemon basil dipping sauce

Grilled Steak Fries


For 4 people ()

  • 0.5 teaspoon(s) pepper
  • 2.5 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 2 tablespoon(s) basil, chopped
  • 2 teaspoon(s) lemon zest
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed to a paste
  • 6 russet potatoes
  • 0.25 cup(s) vegetable or canola oil
  • 1 cup(s) mayonnaise


Mix together mayonnaise, garlic, lemon zest, basil, 1/2 tsp salt and pepper. Refrigerate for one hour before serving to help strengthen flavors.

Scrub pototoes.  Put potatoes in pot of water and add 2 tsp salt.  Cook over medium heat for 8-10 minutes until potatoes are tender but still firm.  Drain and cool.  Cut potatoes lengthwise into 6-8 slices depending on size of potato.

Brush potatoes with oil.  Season with salt and pepper to taste.  Grill at medium heat until golden brown, approximately 3 minutes per side depending on thickness of potato.  Serve with dipping sauce.
