You pay all that money for a good steak, so the recipe should be simple and enjoy the natural flavor of the prime meat you paid for - this simple recipe does just that.

Steak Seasoning We prefer Montreal Steak Seasoning and add Pepper
1

Take your steaks of choice and apply olive oil to the entire steak, rubbing it in with your hands.

This layer of olive oil will act as an adhesive for the seasoning and also seal the meat so the juices and natural flavor don't cook out.

2

Apply the steak seasoning evenly on all sides of the steak.

3

Once the seasoning is applied, cover the steaks and put in the refrigerator for 1 - 4 hours.

4

Remove the steaks 1 hour before you plan on cooking them and trying to get them to room temperature.

5

Heat your grill as high as possible, 600+ degrees is recommended.

Place your steaks on the grill.

TIP: If you don't have a cast iron grill grate, we highly recommend getting one. Steaks turn out much better with that nice crisp bark with a cast iron grill grate.

6

Cook the steaks initially for 2 minutes on each side (set a timer on your phone and sip a beverage while you wait).

By flipping after 2 minutes on each side you are sealing the meat so minimal juices exit for the remainder of the grilling process.

7

Depending on the cut and thickness of the steak, along with the preference of rare/medium-rare/medium/well done will depend how long you cook each side for at this point.

Typically for a Filet and other thicker meats, another 2 -3 minutes per side gets it to medium rare.

8

TIP: If you have multiple steaks where people want them done at different temperatures, bring a glass container out with a cover. When the rare and medium-rare groups is done, remove them from the grill and place them in the container.

This will allow all the steaks to remain warm and not over/under cook the other steaks. Just remember which one is which!

9

Once the steaks are done, let them rest at least 5 minutes before serving.
